All proceeds going to the upkeep of the parish church, St. Mary the Virgin to raise funds to replace the lead that has been stolen from the roof twice in the last 12 months.

On behalf of the Fete Committee I'd like to say a big thank you to all of you who visited the Woodford Halse Fete and the Raising the Roof Classic Vehicle Gathering and gave us your support. You each helped to make the day a great success, especially the owners of the fifty magnificent vehicles that were on display. Your donations will help repair the damage caused by the removal of the lead to the roof of our parish church and also go toward security lighting to make sure that we don't have a further theft in the future.

We were blessed with spectacular weather again this year and all the enthusiasts that I managed to speak with seemed to enjoy the rural surroundings, the good company and the attractions within the Mill House grounds. I hope you will all come back next year, when we will try to make the day even better for you all.

For those of you who didn't manage to get across to the Mill House lawn to here the announcement, the Pride of Woodford Classic Vehicle 2010 award went to the 1947 Alvis Mulliner Saloon (seen below). With a high number of votes cast by the entrants and the visitors to the event, the Alvis won by a landslide, receiving more than twice the number of votes of any other vehicle. Belonging to Mr. & Mrs. Robbins, who came across from Warwickshire, surprisingly enough the couple told me that this was the first award that they had won; they were clearly delighted with their first taste of their deserved success.

Amongst the vehicles on display were a 1933 Austin 10/4, a brace of Ferraris, a Lotus Cortina Mk 1 and a unique trike that resembled the Bat Mobile. Worthy of note were a rarely seen Hilman Minx Californian, a Mk 1 Escort Mexico, a Shelby GT350 and, last but by no means least, the cars of the Kilsby MG Owners Club, which made a fantastic display.
